Mohammed Ibrahim Tanvir is currently working as a Software Engineer (C++) at Fiftytwo Digital Ltd. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from International Islamic University Chittagong. During his undergraduate studies, Tanvir invested a significant amount of time solving programming problems. He had represented his university in several divisional and national programming competitions. Also, he worked as a competitive programming trainer at his university for more than a year. Tanvir got to know about the opportunity at Fiftytwo Digitals Ltd. through a LinkedIn post. Though the experience requirement for the role was 1-3 years, Tanvir still applied since he got encouraged after going through the requirement that mentioned
Engineers with a remarkable background in programming contests or mathematics are highly encouraged to apply for this position.
Then, he went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:
Phase 1: Written Test
In the written test, there were 10 - 12 questions. The questions covered the topics - programming, mathematics, advanced C++, Unix/Linux operating systems, English competency, and so on. In 3 - 4 questions, Tanvir had to write code as part of the answers. This phase lasted for an hour.
To prepare for this phase, Tanvir went through the contents of his resume and brushed up his knowledge on OOP (C++), MySQL commands, GitHub basics, and API basics.
Phase 2: Technical Interview
This interview was conducted by 3 senior engineers through Microsoft Teams. One of the interviewers asked Tanvir questions on the topics - graph, bit manipulation, and data structures. Then, one of the other interviewers asked questions on object-oriented programming. And the remaining interviewer asked questions on databases, university projects, team strategy, mindset, and so on. The whole conversation was in English and it lasted for 1 and a half hours.
Phase 3: Interview with the CTO
It was a 30-minutes non-technical interview. The interviewer asked Tanvir about his future plans, family, programming contest experiences, and so on.
