Sumit Chowdhury is currently working at REVE Systems as a Junior Software Engineer (R&D). He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. During his undergraduate years, Sumit focused on developing his problem-solving abilities and worked on various projects to enhance his software development skills.
Sumit applied for the role at REVE Systems through campus recruitment. The selection process involved multiple phases:
Phase 1: Online Technical Interview
The first interview began with a brief self-introduction. The interviewers then asked questions on Java, basic problem-solving, and networking. Key topics covered included:
- String-based problems
- Object-oriented programming basics
- TCP/UDP protocols and the OSI model
This phase lasted approximately one hour.
Phase 2: Online Technical Interview
In the second round, Sumit again introduced himself. The focus shifted to more advanced technical topics, including Java threading and higher-level programming problems. Main topics were:
- Multithreading, synchronization, and exception handling
- Data structures and algorithms
- SQL queries
This session took around 45 minutes.
Phase 3: Online Technical Interview
The final technical interview was conducted by the CTO and one of the department heads. They reviewed mistakes from previous interviews and discussed Sumit’s undergraduate projects and research topics. A few non-technical questions were also asked. This interview lasted 30–35 minutes.
About a week later, the HR team communicated the result and sent Sumit an official offer letter.
To prepare for these interviews, Sumit focused on basic problem-solving exercises from HackerRank and LeetCode. He particularly followed HackerRank’s Interview Preparation Kit to strengthen his knowledge of data structures and algorithms. For object-oriented programming concepts, he studied Java: The Complete Reference by Herbert Schildt.
