MD. Shibly Rahman Alve is currently working at Chaldal as a Software Engineer L2. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
From the very first year of university, Shibly developed a strong interest in competitive programming—a passion he pursued throughout his academic life. He actively participated in numerous online and offline contests, including many IUPCs, ICPCs, and NCPCs.
Shibly connected with a friend who was already working at Chaldal and applied through an internal referral form provided by him. He then went through the following recruitment phases:
Phase 1: Online MCQ Test
The first phase was an online MCQ test conducted on a secure platform with strict monitoring (full-screen mode, webcam, and microphone active throughout, with random checks).
- Total Questions: 70
- Duration: 35 minutes
- Sections:
- Aptitude Test (40 questions, 20 minutes): Focused on basic reasoning, mathematics, and vocabulary.
- DSA (20 questions, 10 minutes): Covered fundamental concepts such as time complexity and the workings of various data structures and algorithms.
- DBMS (10 questions, 5 minutes): Primarily SQL queries, with an emphasis on joins and transactions.
Preparation Tip: Shibly practiced aptitude questions on IndiaBix.
Phase 2: Onsite Interviews
The second phase consisted of two back-to-back onsite interviews, each lasting about 1 hour. The interviews mainly focused on assessing the candidate’s problem-solving ability and communication skills. The interviewers were knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience comfortable.
In addition to solving problems, Shibly was asked questions on:
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Data Structures
- His thesis work
Phase 3: Online CTO Round
The final phase was a 30-minute online interview with Chaldal’s CTO.
- The session began with a few behavioral questions.
- Shibly was then given one programming problem to solve using his preferred local IDE, while sharing his screen.
- After solving the problem, he was asked to explain his thought process in detail.
