MM Shahriar Amin is currently working at BJIT Ltd. as a Software Engineer. He has earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from BRAC University. Shahriar completed his undergraduate thesis on machine learning and bioinformatics, both of which he is enthusiastic about. After his graduation, Shahriar came to know about the job vacancy at BJIT. He applied to the Odoo development team via the company’s job portal site.
This article shares Shahriar’s experience in landing a job at BJIT Ltd., to benefit those who are preparing for a job in the same field. Shahriar went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:
Phase 1
It was a programming assessment and as part of it, Shahriar was given three questions to answer. The questions were around the topics of problem-solving in Python/JavaScript, OODA, and UI Design.
Phase 2
It was a technical interview. Shahriar was asked questions on sorting, data types, data structures, and more. Next, he went through a live coding assessment where he was asked to sort a list, print values from a list in reverse order, and create a dictionary from two lists. The interview ended with a discussion on Shahriar’s pet projects, undergraduate thesis, hobbies, passion, and career goals.
Phase 3
It was an interview with the CEO and the HR Executive. Shahriar was asked questions about his strengths and weaknesses, the reason behind applying to BJIT, plans to move abroad for higher studies, hobbies, and career goals.
