Recruitment Stories - Noor's Experience at Craftsmen

Noor E Arafin Rafi is currently working as a Software Engineer in Test at Craftsmen, a role he joined in August. Before this, he was an Associate QA Engineer at Era Infotech Limited, where he gained hands-on experience in manual testing, automation testing, API testing, and load testing.

Alongside his full-time roles, Noor also contributed as a freelance tester at TesterWork, participating in real-world crowdtesting projects. These experiences significantly enhanced his exploratory testing skills and gave him exposure to a wide range of applications.

Over the past two years, Noor has been involved in diverse projects across banking, non-banking, and ERP domains, building strong domain expertise in core banking systems, foreign trade, NBFI, HR, and payroll systems. He has worked in Agile Scrum environments, collaborating closely with developers, product owners, and clients to ensure delivery of high-quality software.

Academically, Noor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). He is also pursuing a Master’s in Professional Management Information Systems (MPMIS) at Dhaka University. His passion lies in advancing modern QA practices, with a strong focus on automation and delivering scalable, reliable software solutions.

Noor applied for the Software Engineer in Test position at Craftsmen through LinkedIn. The recruitment process consisted of multiple rounds:

Phase 1 - QA Assessment

The first stage involved testing a buggy software application within a two-hour window, based on a given problem set. This assessment challenged his problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

Phase 2 - Interview with the CEO

In the second round, Noor had an online interview with the CEO. The discussion revolved around his professional background as well as some technical aspects. The approachable nature of the CEO made this session particularly enjoyable.

Phase 3 - Interview with the CTO and Test Lead

The third round was more technical and involved interviews with the CTO and Test Lead. Since Craftsmen mainly hires talent for foreign companies, these two represented the client organization. They evaluated Noor’s QA and testing expertise and provided valuable insights during the process.

After successfully clearing all rounds, Noor received his offer confirmation and later attended an online onboarding session covering next steps.
