Recruitment Stories - Nazmul's Experience at Brain Station 23

Nazmul Hassan is currently working as a Business Analyst at Brain Station 23. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from North South University.

Nazmul got to know about the job vacancy at Brain Station 23 through a Facebook post. He sent his resume to the mentioned email address. Then, he went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:

Phase 1

This was an MCQ assessment. The nature of the assessment was similar to that of GRE. There were questions on mathematical knowledge, technical knowledge, and business analyst role.

To prepare for this phase, Nazmul did some research on Brain Station 23 and he gathered as much knowledge as he could regarding the Business Analyst role in a technology company.

Phase 2

This was a written assessment. There was a business analysis problem. Nazmul had to propose a solution to the problem with proper reasoning behind the feasibility of his solution. Initially, he tried to understand the business model. Then, he prepared a solution and ensured to provide adequate examples to support his solution in his writing.

Phase 3

In this phase, the interviewers asked Nazmul to tell something about himself. They asked questions about the role of a business analyst. Besides, they wanted to know the reasoning behind Nazmul’s choice to be a business analyst over a software developer, since he had majored in CSE. The interviewers provided a business analysis problem involving a student portal to Nazmul and asked him about his approaches to solving this problem. Nazmul utilized the same strategies from the previous assessment. Based on his answers, the interviewers asked several related questions such as which SDLC method would be suitable for the scenario? Finally, the interviewers asked about the expectations Nazmul had from the job role and any questions he had for them.

To prepare for this phase, Nazmul watched relevant YouTube videos sharing knowledge on business analyst interview questions. He did some mock interviews with his friends.
