Mustafizur Rahman is currently an SQA Engineer I at Brain Station 23. He earned his BSc in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from the American International University-Bangladesh. During his final year at university, while studying Quality Assurance-related courses, he discovered his passion for the field. He realized that QA was the ideal sector for him, where he could apply his potential and help teams deliver successful projects.

His university courses provided him with a solid foundation in manual testing, and in his final semester, he began learning automation testing. Over time, he worked on several automation projects, further honing his skills and preparing him for a career in the field.

Mustafizur applied for his current role through the company’s job portal. The recruitment process consisted of several phases, each designed to assess his technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and overall fit for the role.

Phase 1: Automation Task

The first step of the recruitment process involved an automation task sent via email. Mustafizur was given four days to complete a web automation task and submit his solution. He successfully completed the task and shared his GitHub link with the recruiters.

Phase 2: Technical Interview (Online)

The second phase was an online technical interview lasting about 90 minutes. The interview panel consisted of a QA Lead and two QA Engineers. They began by reviewing Mustafizur’s automation task, asking him to explain the project and the framework he had used.

The panel then posed a series of questions on topics such as manual testing, performance testing, and API testing. They also discussed Mustafizur’s CV, his previous work experience, and his approach to different testing scenarios. Toward the end of the interview, they presented Mustafizur with a Java code snippet and asked him to predict its output. Finally, they inquired about his roles and responsibilities in previous projects to assess his ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Phase 3: Technical Interview (Onsite)

One week after the online interview, Mustafizur was invited to the Brain Station 23 office for an onsite technical interview. The session included the SBU Head and a Project Manager, who asked behavioral questions related to teamwork, work environment, and how Mustafizur handles challenges in a professional setting.

Mustafizur was then given an onsite automation task, with two hours to complete it. Once the task was finished, there was a brief discussion about his expected salary and potential joining date if he were offered the position.

Phase 4: HR Negotiation

Two weeks after the onsite interview, Mustafizur was contacted by HR to discuss salary and other employment-related matters. After a week of negotiations, Mustafizur received the official job offer letter.

Special thanks to Mustafizur Rahman for taking out the time to share his recruitment experience with me. If you have any queries, feel free to contact him at mustafizurr171@gmail.com
