Recruitment Stories - Minar's Experience at Strativ AB

Minar Mahmud Rafi is currently a Junior Software Engineer (QA) at Strativ AB. He graduated with a BSc from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in February 2023 and is now pursuing his MSc at BRAC University. Minar joined Strativ AB in December 2023 as an Intern Software Engineer (QA), marking the beginning of his professional career in the software industry.

Minar discovered the opportunity at Strativ AB through LinkedIn. The recruitment process was thorough, and he went through multiple phases before receiving the job offer. Here’s a breakdown of his journey:

Phase 1: Initial Phone Interview

The process began with an initial phone interview, during which Minar was asked to introduce himself and answer some basic questions, such as:

  • “What are you doing currently?”
  • “What do you know about QA?”
  • “Which programming languages are you comfortable with?”

Minar felt that the primary focus of this interview was to assess his English communication skills, alongside his general knowledge and background.

Phase 2: Technical Interview

Following the phone interview, Minar was invited to an online technical interview. In this phase, he was interviewed by two key team members: the Project Manager and the QA Team Lead. The interview began with a brief introduction, followed by questions about his understanding of software testing. Minar was asked to elaborate on the QA skills listed on his resume and to discuss various testing techniques and tools.

The questions were designed to test his problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking. While the technical questions weren’t overly complex, they required a solid understanding of manual testing and basic programming knowledge, particularly in languages like JavaScript or Python.

Phase 3: HR Interview

After the technical interview, Minar had a final meeting with HR. During this meeting, the HR representative discussed the salary and benefits package and asked a few simple questions, which Minar found easy to answer.

Special thanks to Minar Mahmud Rafi for taking out the time to share his recruitment experience with me. If you have any queries, feel free to contact him at minarmahmudrafi@gmail.com
