Maksuda Islam is currently working at Wall Street Docs (WSD) as a QA Engineer. She graduated from IUT and began her career at Nilavo Technologies, where she worked for a year as a Junior QA Engineer. She later joined Therap (BD) Ltd. as a Software Engineer, QA (Automation), spending 1 year and 10 months contributing to their quality engineering efforts.

Maksuda applied to WSD through a job circular posted on BambooHR. Her recruitment process consisted of several structured phases:

Phase 1: Initial HR Screening

The process began with a short 10–15 minute call with HR. The discussion covered her current and expected salary, reasons for wanting to move on from her previous role, and an overview of her current responsibilities as well as the kind of work she was seeking in her next opportunity.

Phase 2: Task-Based Assessment

In the second round, Maksuda received an email with a task to automate a set of scenarios within a specified time frame. She was given 2.5 hours to complete the assignment.

Phase 3: Technical Interview (Online)

The third phase was a technical interview conducted over Microsoft Teams. This round included questions on both manual and automation testing, scenario-based problem-solving, beginner-level programming questions in the candidate’s preferred language, and a short live automation exercise.

Phase 4: Behavioral Interview

Next, she attended a behavioral interview with a Product Owner and a Product Director. This session focused on her understanding of Scrum principles and her experience working within agile teams.

Phase 5: Final Discussion & Offer

The final step was a discussion with the Director of the Bangladesh office. Following this conversation, Maksuda received and accepted the job offer from WSD.

Special thanks to Maksuda Islam for taking out the time to share her recruitment experience with me. If you have any queries, feel free to contact her at maksudaislam@iut-dhaka.edu
