Recruitment Stories - Hasan's Experience at Brain Station 23

Hasan Shahriar is currently working as an SQA Engineer at Brain Station 23. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB).

Hasan came across the job vacancy at Brain Station 23 through a job circular. Then, he applied for the post via the company’s job portal site. After about a month, Hasan went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:

Phase 1: MCQ-Based Remote Online Assessment

This assessment lasted for an hour. The multiple-choice questions were on the topics of - core QA basics, testing methodologies, databases, object-oriented programming, analytical thinking, and scenario-based testing.

After a few days of completing the first assessment, Hasan was informed by the HR of Brain Station 23 that he passed the first phase and that they wanted to assess him on his test automation skills for the next phase.

Phase 2: Test Automation Assessment

It was a 3-hour long assessment. Hasan was given a web application to automate using Selenium WebDriver. All the instructions such as scope, programming language to use, and how to submit his work were provided as well. Additionally, he was given object-oriented programming problems as well as SQL problems to solve.

Phase 3: Technical Interview

The questions in this assessment were mostly from Hasan’s resume and the practical experiences he had in his prior jobs. He was asked about the companies he had worked for previously and the projects he was in charge of and the QA processes he had followed. Also, he had to present his test automation assignment from the previous assessment and he had to explain the reasoning behind his approaches. Apart from that, he was asked theoretical questions on software testing, scenario-based testing questions, and analytical questions.

Phase 4: HR Interview

In this phase, the interviewer asked Hasan about his former job experiences and the companies he had worked for. Also, the interviewer asked him questions about his motivation behind transitioning to Brain Station 23 for the SQA role.
