Recruitment Stories - Ashikul's Experience at Orbitax Bangladesh Limited

Md. Ashikul Islam is currently working at Orbitax Bangladesh Limited as an Associate SQA Engineer. He began his career at Nagad, where he gained valuable knowledge about the fintech industry. Initially joining as an intern, Ashikul was on the verge of transitioning to a development role due to his passion for coding. However, his perspective shifted when he experienced the unique satisfaction of testing a product requiring intricate financial knowledge. This “dopamine hit” inspired him to pursue a career in QA. Over time, he began automating his tests, allowing him to enjoy the best of both worlds—delving into complex business logic while coding simultaneously. After 1.5 years at Nagad, Ashikul joined Orbitax for better opportunities and quickly realized the vast scope for growth and learning in his new role.

Ashikul discovered the opportunity at Orbitax through LinkedIn and went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:

Phase 1: Written Evaluation

Ashikul participated in a written exam conducted at Orbitax’s office. Code editors and calculators were allowed during this test. About 50% of the questions were multiple-choice, primarily focused on QA-related topics. Another 30% covered areas like databases, APIs, SDLC, and multi-threading. The remaining 20% consisted of coding problems, many of which were commonly found on platforms like GeeksforGeeks. Ashikul was required to solve these problems in a specific IDE he wasn’t familiar with and submit his solutions via Google Forms. Web searches were strictly prohibited, adding to the challenge.

Phase 2: Technical Interview

The second phase was a one-hour technical interview with two QA team leads. They reviewed Ashikul’s CV in detail, asking questions about his experiences and knowledge. He was also presented with hypothetical scenarios where he had to efficiently test a product. This round covered a wide range of topics, from theoretical concepts to practical implementations, making it a thorough and demanding process.

Phase 3: CTO/HR Interview

In the final phase, Ashikul faced the CTO in the presence of the HR representative and a QA team lead. As an experienced developer, the CTO asked many technical questions focusing on APIs, databases, automation practices, and communication skills. The HR representative concluded the interview by discussing Ashikul’s salary expectations and the benefits he would receive if selected. About two weeks later, Ashikul received his offer letter.
