Recruitment Stories - Ashik's Experience at Pathao

Md Akhter-Uz-Zaman Ashik is currently working at Pathao as a Software Test Engineer I. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. After his graduation, Ashik was seeking opportunities in the QA field. He came to know about the vacancy for a Software Test Engineer role at Pathao and thus, he applied for the position. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the entire recruitment process happened online. The recruitment process consisted of the following phases:

Phase 1: Technical Interview I

For this phase, Ashik took a significant amount of preparation. He went through several websites that listed out the frequently asked common interview questions for a QA role and ensured to figure out the answers to each of the questions. Besides, he studied the basics of testing and went through the contents of his resume.

In the interview, which lasted for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, the interviewer asked Ashik questions from the basics of testing, testing types, and purposes, test strategies, database, and API. The interviewer also asked about Ashik’s previous experiences and some frequently asked common non-technical questions.

Phase 2: Technical Interview II

In this phase, the interviewer gave Ashik a software to test in 1 hour. The interviewer asked him to perform a smoke test and to write down the test cases. After he was done, the interviewer asked him about his findings and his strategies.

To prepare for this phase, Ashik utilized various articles, tutorials, and youtube videos to learn the approaches taken to test a mobile application. And he followed those approaches during the interview.

Phase 3: HR Interview

This was the final phase of the whole recruitment process. The interviewer asked Ashik a few questions about his goals, his future plans and, his salary expectations.
