Ashfat Al Rashid is currently working as a Software Engineer (QA) in the Digital Technology & Innovation Team at United Commercial Bank PLC. His career began at Polygon Technology, where he joined as an SQA Engineer Intern. After successfully completing his three-month internship, he was offered a full-time position as SQA Engineer L-1. Within a year, his consistent performance and growth earned him a promotion to SQA Engineer L-2.
Over the years, Ashfat has gained hands-on experience across a diverse set of domains, including Banking Onboarding Solutions, Fintech, E-Commerce, Transportation Systems, HRM Solutions, and Logistics. This exposure has allowed him to develop a well-rounded skill set in software quality assurance and testing.
Ashfat applied for his current role through LinkedIn, and the recruitment process was divided into three phases:
Phase 1: Initial Screening
After applying, Ashfat received a call from HR for the preliminary round. In this stage, he was asked to introduce himself, share details about his current workplace, explain his responsibilities, and highlight the role he plays in his organization as an SQA Engineer.
Phase 2: Technical Round
The technical round was a challenging and engaging 30-minute session. To prepare, Ashfat revised a wide range of topics, including:
- Manual and automation testing
- Core programming concepts and OOP principles
- Test framework design
- API testing fundamentals
- SQL queries and database testing
- Performance testing
- CI/CD pipelines
- Core principles of software testing
During the interview, he faced questions spanning multiple areas:
- Manual Testing – API testing using Postman, REST/SOAP API concepts, ideal status codes, JWT token-related questions, and various testing types (Sanity, Smoke, Regression, UAT).
- Database Testing – SQL queries and database-related scenarios.
- Programming – Core OOP concepts and practical applications.
- Automation – API automation, TestNG, Selenium locator strategies, integration testing, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
This phase tested both his theoretical knowledge and his practical problem-solving abilities.
Phase 3: HR Round
The final round focused on personality, cultural fit, and mindset. Ashfat was asked a series of behavioral and situational questions, covering teamwork, conflict resolution, adaptability, and emotional intelligence. The discussion also explored his career aspirations and how his values align with the company’s work culture.
