Recruitment Stories - Jaber's Experience at Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd.

   ~2 min read

Mir Mohammad Jaber is currently working as a Software Engineer at Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from BRAC University. Before working at Cefalo, Jaber had worked as an ML Engineer at Infolytx.

Jaber applied for the Senior Data Engineer role via a Google Form shared by the company. Later on, he went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:

Phase 1

This was a behavioral interview with the MD of Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd. He asked Jaber several questions about his educational background, his role at his current job, his motivation behind looking for a new job opportunity, and more. The initial part of the conversation was in Bengali, however, toward the end, the interviewer asked Jaber to continue the conversation in English.

The interview lasted for about 45 minutes.

Phase 2

Jaber was invited for this phase a week after the first phase. This was a 1-hour long online technical assessment conducted by three interviewers. Jaber didn’t have prior knowledge about the data engineering field since he came from an ML background. So, initially, the interviewers asked him about his understanding of the Data Engineer role. The interviewers majorly focused on the technologies and topics that Jaber had mentioned in his resume which included Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and more. Additionally, the interviewers gave Jaber three programming problems to solve. The problems were from the topics - linked list, dynamic programming, and ad hoc.

Phase 3

This phase happened a day after the online technical assessment. It was a half an hour-long meeting with the client Jaber would work for after joining the company. The client had briefed about their project and their business domain.

After a week, Jaber received a call from the HR about his job confirmation.

Special thanks to Mir Mohammad Jaber for taking out the time to share his recruitment experience with me. If you have any queries, feel free to contact him at mir.mohammad.jaber@g.bracu.ac.bd
