Soumik Sarker is currently working as an Associate Software Engineer at Therap (BD) Ltd. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. Soumik had always made an effort to develop his problem-solving and software development skills. In fact, he participated in several hackathons to put his skills to test. Turned out that he became the champion of BRACathon 2.0 and as a result, he had the privilege to work on a project with BRAC IT Services Limited (biTS) and the Hereditary neuropathy with pressure palsies (HNPP) department.

Soumik applied for the role at Therap through campus recruitment. He then went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:

Phase 1: Online Technical Assessment I

This session lasted for about an hour. In the beginning, Soumik introduced himself. Then, the interviewers asked him a few basic questions about Java. Some of the topics were related to -

  • Basics of Object-oriented programming
  • Memory handling in OOP
  • Principle OOP strategies

Afterward, the interviewers asked questions related to problem-solving. Initially, they asked questions on some beginner-level problems and then, some harder-level problems. Some of the problems were related to basic data structures and dynamic programming.

Phase 2: Online Technical Assessment II

This session lasted for about 40 minutes. Again, Soumik introduced himself in the beginning. The session started with some problem-solving questions related to the topics - data structures and algorithms. Afterward, the interviewers asked several questions related to Java. Some of the topics were -

  • Collections Framework
  • Exceptions
  • Design pattern

Also, the interviewers asked a few basic questions on networking.

To prepare for both the technical rounds, Soumik ensured to brush up on his knowledge of data structures and algorithms, concepts of object-oriented programming (from Schaum’s Outline of Programming with Java), design patterns, database, and basics of networking and operating systems.

Phase 3: Online Non-Technical Assessment

This session lasted for about 10 minutes. Just like in the previous 2 rounds, Soumik introduced himself initially. Then, the interviewers asked some non-technical questions from whatever was written in his resume.

Phase 4: Online HR Interview

This session lasted for about 15 minutes. It was conducted by the HR at Therap. It was mainly a behavioral interview. The interviewer asked Soumik questions regarding his family, childhood, university life and, career goals.
