Recruitment Stories - Tapan's Experience at Therap (BD) Ltd.

Tapan Basak is currently working as an Associate System Administrator - DevOps at Therap (BD) Ltd. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
During his final year at SUST, Tapan worked on the topics - Linux and Blockchain for his undergraduate thesis. He designed secure protocols and learned in-depth about computer systems and networking. The experience and learnings he had gathered through his undergraduate thesis played a vital role in his decision to pursue System Administrator as a career.
Tapan applied for the role at Therap through campus recruitment. He then went through the following recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:
Phase 1
This assessment lasted for about 30 minutes. The interviewers asked Tapan questions on Linux and DevOps and, with each passing question, the difficulty level of the remaining questions increased. Some example questions to mention are:
- What is the necessity of development operations in SDLC?
- What are the advantages of using Linux?
- What are Tapan’s reasons to opt for an Associate System Administrator - DevOps role?
- Several questions on SSH passwordless login, file system hierarchy in Linux, name and ip based addressing, MOTM attacks, reverse proxy, DNS, and so on.
To prepare for the interview, Tapan utilized resources from the internet on topics - web, cybersecurity, and networking. Also, he completed courses from edX offered by LinuxFoundationX. Additionally, he studied from Linux Journey and KodeKloud.
Phase 2
This assessment lasted for about 30 minutes as well. The interviewer asked Tapan general questions about his career goals, his plans for the next 5 years, and the projects he mentioned in his resume. The interview was mainly non-technical with some technical questions on topics such as - daemon processes, different Linux commands, HTTPS, user and group permissions, Linux ports and, so on.
Phase 3
This assessment lasted for about 20 minutes. It was basically an interview with the HR. The interviewer asked Tapan questions regarding his family, childhood and, career goals. Also, the interviewer asked Tapan to share about experiences he had gathered during his undergraduate years, his hobbies, and his reasons behind applying to Therap.
