Recruitment Stories - Subhashis's Experience at SELISE Digital Platforms

   ~2 min read

Subhashis Mollick currently works as a Software Engineer at SELISE Digital Platforms. He completed his undergraduate studies in Computer Science & Engineering at Islamic University. During his undergraduate years, Subhashis participated in several national and international programming competitions. He still tries to find time to participate in various online programming competitions.

This article shares Subhashis’s experience of landing a job at SELISE Digital Platforms. It provides insights for someone who is preparing for a job interview.

Towards the end of his final year at Islamic University, Subhashis began job hunting. He provided his resume to one of his seniors at Islamic University who was working at SELISE at the time. After a few days, Subhashis was notified of his selection by the HR department. He then went through several recruitment phases before accepting the job offer:

Phase 1: Coding Test

The coding test lasted for three hours. Subhashis was given seven programming problems to solve, all of which could be categorized as implementation, data structures, and basic algorithms. Their difficulty levels could be considered similar to those in Codeforces Div 2 (A to D).

Subhashis did not need to prepare significantly for the coding test, as he had already practiced solving programming problems in C++ as part of his training for competitive programming. As a result, his coding test went well, and he received an invitation for a face-to-face interview after 10 days.

Phase 2: Face-to-face Interview

In this phase, the interviewer asked:

Technical questions

  • Subhashis’s solution approach of the programming problems in the coding test
  • questions on linked list, basic algorithms, data structures and, time complexity
  • solutions to a few programming problems related to data structures

Non-technical questions

  • asked Subhashis to tell something about himself, about his journey to competitive programming and his interests

Special thanks to Subhashis Mollick for taking out the time to share his recruitment experience with me. If you have any queries, feel free to contact him at smollickcseiu@gmail.com
